Medicare Coverage Changes in Naples

Naples is one of Florida's most affluent and desirable retirement communities. Collier County seniors tend to be well-informed and proactive about their healthcare -- and that includes staying on top of Medicare coverage changes.

Here is what Naples seniors need to know about Medicare plan changes and how to respond.

Medicare Plans Change Every Year

Every Medicare plan -- whether Medicare Advantage or Part D -- can change its premiums, benefits, formularies, and networks each year. Changes take effect January 1.

Your plan is required to send you an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) by September 30 each year. This document outlines every change to your plan for the coming year. Read it carefully.

What Can Change in Your Naples Medicare Plan

Premiums -- Your monthly premium may increase. Even a $20/month increase adds up to $240/year.

Drug formulary -- Medications can be moved to higher tiers or removed from coverage entirely. This can dramatically increase your drug costs.

Provider network -- Doctors and hospitals can leave the plan's network. Your primary care physician or specialist may no longer be in-network.

Benefits -- Extra benefits like dental, vision, and hearing allowances can change. A plan that offered $1,500 in dental benefits last year may offer $1,000 this year.

Out-of-pocket maximum -- Your maximum annual exposure may increase.

Naples' Premium Healthcare Market

Naples is home to world-class medical facilities:

  • NCH Healthcare System -- Naples Community Hospital and North Naples Hospital
  • Physicians Regional Medical Center -- Two campuses in Collier County
  • Cleveland Clinic Florida -- Specialty care available in the region

Naples seniors who want access to these facilities without network restrictions often choose Medigap plans, which work with any Medicare-accepting provider.
