What to review when moving
A change of residence can affect Medicare Advantage and Part D plan availability. Your options can depend on whether you move outside your current plan’s service area, whether different plan choices are available at your new address, and when you notify your plan about the move.
Original Medicare generally travels with you, but your doctors, pharmacies, prescription coverage, and supplemental coverage deserve a fresh review at the new address.
Medigap is a separate decision
A Medicare Advantage or Part D Special Enrollment Period is not the same as a Medicare Supplement guaranteed-issue right. Medigap Open Enrollment, guaranteed issue, trial rights, and state protections each have their own requirements.
