Independent Medicare guidance for people relocating to Florida.
"Very Knowledgable and personable! William made a seemingly difficult transition easy and seamless. I appreciated his unbiased opinion and personalized what was best for me. He took great care in listening to my concerns. I never felt rushed and felt he took a personal interest in assisting me to make the best choice. Not one of those "Big box" sales as seen on TV. Highly recommend William."

Florida Medicare relocation guide
Moving to Florida With Medicare
Moving to Florida can change the Medicare Advantage and Part D plans available at your new address. Start with the coverage you have today, then compare Florida options using your new county and ZIP code before you make a change.
Independent Florida guidance. No cost. No pressure.
What changes when you move to Florida — and what may not
A move to Florida does not change your Original Medicare eligibility. But your new address can change the Medicare Advantage and Part D plans available to you, the provider networks and pharmacies you can use, and the costs or rules that apply to a plan.
The first step is to identify the coverage you have now. Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, stand-alone Part D, and Medigap each work differently when you move. The national Moving With Medicare guide explains the general rules; this page focuses on the decisions to make after Florida becomes your destination.
Review your coverage for your Florida address
Original Medicare
Original Medicare can generally be used with doctors and hospitals that accept Medicare anywhere in the United States. Before you move, confirm that your Florida doctors and facilities accept Medicare and are taking new patients.
Review Original MedicareMedicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage plans have service areas and provider networks. Your current plan may not serve your new Florida address, and the plans available can vary by county and ZIP code.
Review Medicare AdvantagePart D prescription drug coverage
Part D formularies, preferred pharmacies, and estimated drug costs can differ by plan and location. Compare your prescriptions using your new Florida address before you enroll or switch.
Review Part DMedigap
Keeping an existing Medigap policy is different from applying for or switching to another policy. Moving to Florida does not automatically create a general right to change Medigap policies without medical underwriting.
Understand Medigap rightsWhy your Florida county and ZIP code matter
Medicare Advantage and Part D plan availability is based on where you live. A plan that works in one Florida county or ZIP code may not be offered, priced, or structured the same way in another location. Use your new residential address when you compare options.
After you know where you will live, use the Florida Medicare geography pages to continue your research. They can help you move from statewide guidance to the county, city, or ZIP-level information that is relevant to your new home.
Practical steps before and after your Florida move
Confirm your current coverage
Check whether you have Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Part D, Medigap, or a combination of these.
Tell your plan about the move when applicable
If you have Medicare Advantage or Part D, confirm your plan’s move-reporting instructions and your own enrollment timing before acting.
Compare plans using the new address
Use your Florida county and ZIP code to review available plans, provider networks, pharmacies, formularies, and estimated costs.
Check doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies
Confirm Medicare participation, network status, pharmacy access, and any out-of-area care rules that matter to you.
Review Medigap before changing it
Do not cancel or replace an existing Medigap policy until you understand your current policy, federal rights, and whether underwriting may apply.
Update your address
Contact the appropriate organizations, including your plan when applicable, to confirm how and when to update your address.
Timing and enrollment opportunities
A move can create an opportunity to change Medicare Advantage or Part D coverage when the move affects your plan’s service area or new plan options are available. The timing and available choices depend on the qualifying situation, including whether you tell the plan before or after you move.
A Medicare Advantage or Part D move-related enrollment opportunity is not the same as a universal Medigap guaranteed-issue right. Review Medigap protections separately before applying for or switching a Medigap policy.
