One of the best things about retiring in Northeast Florida is the sheer volume of events, festivals, and community gatherings happening throughout the year. The challenge is knowing where to find them.

This guide covers the best recurring events and resources for finding what's happening each month across Palm Coast, Flagler County, Volusia County, St. Johns County, and Jacksonville. Bookmark it — and check back, because we update it regularly.

Farmers Markets

Farmers markets are among the best recurring community events for seniors — fresh produce, local vendors, live music, and a social atmosphere that makes them worth a weekly visit.

Palm Coast / Flagler County:

Volusia County:

  • Daytona Beach Farmers Market: Downtown Daytona, Saturday mornings

Health fairs and senior expos are valuable events that offer free health screenings, information about local services, and connections to community resources.

Annual Events to Watch For

Flagler County Senior Expo Typically held in the fall, the Flagler County Senior Expo brings together healthcare providers, community organizations, and senior services vendors. Free health screenings (blood pressure, glucose, vision, hearing) are typically available. Watch for announcements from the Flagler County Council on Aging.

AdventHealth Community Health Events AdventHealth Palm Coast regularly hosts free community health events including screenings, educational seminars, and wellness programs. Check AdventHealth's website or call their community health line for upcoming events.

AARP Events AARP hosts regular events in Northeast Florida including driver safety courses, tax preparation assistance (AARP Tax-Aide), and educational seminars. Check aarp.org/local for events in your area.

Medicare Annual Enrollment Period Events (October–December) During Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7), I host free informational events throughout Northeast Florida where you can learn about your Medicare options, compare plans, and get your questions answered. Live Music and Entertainment

Free and Low-Cost Music Events

Flagler Beach: Flagler Beach has a vibrant live music scene, particularly at restaurants and bars along A1A. Many venues host free live music on weekends. The Flagler Beach pier area is a hub of activity, especially in the cooler months.

St. Augustine: St. Augustine has one of the richest live music scenes in Northeast Florida. The historic district has multiple venues with live music nightly. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre hosts major concerts and events throughout the year.

Daytona Beach: The Daytona Beach boardwalk area has live music venues, and the city hosts multiple free outdoor events throughout the year. The Peabody Auditorium hosts a full season of performances.

Jacksonville: Jacksonville has a thriving music scene with venues ranging from intimate clubs to the large Daily's Place amphitheater. The Riverside Arts Market features live music every Saturday morning.

Flagler Auditorium

The Flagler Auditorium in Palm Coast hosts a full season of performances including Broadway touring shows, concerts, comedy, and cultural events. Senior pricing is available on most performances. The season typically runs September through May.

Festivals and Community Events

Annual Festivals Worth Marking on Your Calendar

Flagler Beach Chowder Cook-Off (Fall) A beloved annual event on the Flagler Beach pier featuring chowder from local restaurants, live music, and a festive atmosphere. One of the most popular community events in Flagler County.

St. Augustine Greek Festival (Fall) Held at the St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine, this annual festival features authentic Greek food, music, and culture. A wonderful community event.

St. Augustine Nights of Lights (November–January) St. Augustine's famous holiday light display transforms the historic district into a magical winter wonderland. The display runs for several months and is free to view. One of the most spectacular holiday events in Florida.

Daytona Beach Bike Week (March) and Biketoberfest (October) If you enjoy motorcycle culture (or just people-watching), these events transform Daytona Beach twice a year. Not specifically senior-focused, but a uniquely Florida experience.

Ormond Beach Festival of the Arts (Spring) An annual outdoor arts festival in Ormond Beach featuring fine art, crafts, live music, and food. Free admission.

Jacksonville Jazz Festival (Spring) One of the largest free jazz festivals in the country, held in downtown Jacksonville. A major regional event that draws performers and visitors from across the country.

Community Center Programming

Community centers throughout Northeast Florida offer monthly programming calendars with classes, events, and social activities specifically for seniors. These are among the most consistent and accessible activity resources in the region.

Palm Coast Community Center: Monthly calendar available at the center and on the city website. Programs include fitness classes, arts and crafts, card games, line dancing, and special events.

Flagler County YMCA: Monthly program calendar with fitness classes, aquatics, and social events. Senior membership rates available.

Volusia County Community Centers: Multiple facilities throughout Volusia County with senior programming. Check Volusia County Parks & Recreation for schedules.

Veteran Events

Veterans Day and Memorial Day Events Palm Coast and Flagler County host annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies. These are meaningful community events that honor service and bring the veteran community together.

American Legion and VFW Events American Legion Post 115 and VFW Post 8696 in Palm Coast host regular events, dinners, and community activities throughout the year. Open to veterans and their families.
