Volusia County's hospital network includes Halifax Health and AdventHealth — two major systems serving Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Deltona, and New Smyrna Beach. William Gray helps you choose a Medicare plan that covers your preferred hospitals.
Volusia County is served by two major hospital systems: Halifax Health (locally governed, headquartered in Daytona Beach) and AdventHealth (national faith-based system). Both systems accept Original Medicare. Medicare Advantage network participation varies by plan and carrier.
Before enrolling in any Medicare Advantage plan, William verifies that your preferred Volusia County hospitals are in-network. This is one of the most important steps in plan selection — an out-of-network hospital visit can cost thousands of dollars more than an in-network visit.

Inpatient Hospital Stays (Part A)
Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital stays after your deductible ($1,736 per benefit period in 2026). Days 1–60 are covered after the deductible; days 61–90 require a daily copay ($433/day). Medigap covers most or all of these costs.
Outpatient Services (Part B)
Medicare Part B covers outpatient hospital services — including emergency room visits, outpatient surgery, and diagnostic tests — after your $283 annual deductible. You pay 20% of Medicare-approved costs. Medigap covers this 20%.
Emergency Care
Medicare covers emergency care at any hospital in the U.S. Medicare Advantage plans must cover emergency care nationwide, even out-of-network. Medigap plans also include foreign travel emergency coverage.
Observation Status vs. Inpatient
If you're in the hospital but classified as "observation status" rather than formally admitted, Medicare Part B (not Part A) covers your care — and your cost-sharing is different. This distinction matters for skilled nursing facility coverage. William explains this important distinction.
Does Medicare cover hospital care at Halifax Health in Volusia County?
Yes — Halifax Health Medical Center accepts Original Medicare (Parts A and B). Medicare covers inpatient hospital stays after your Part A deductible ($1,736 per benefit period in 2026). If you have a Medigap supplement, most or all of your hospital costs are covered. If you have Medicare Advantage, your plan's network and cost-sharing rules apply. William verifies Halifax Health network status for your specific plan before you enroll.
Is AdventHealth in Volusia County in-network for Medicare Advantage?
AdventHealth participates in many Medicare Advantage networks in Volusia County, but participation varies by carrier and plan year. Before enrolling in any Medicare Advantage plan, William verifies that AdventHealth Daytona Beach, Fish Memorial, or New Smyrna Beach is in-network for your specific plan. Network status can change annually, so verification at each Annual Enrollment Period is important.
What happens if I need emergency hospital care while traveling outside Volusia County?
Original Medicare covers emergency care anywhere in the U.S. Medicare Advantage plans must cover emergency care nationwide, but non-emergency follow-up care may require returning to your plan's network. Medigap plans cover emergency care anywhere in the U.S. and include foreign travel emergency coverage (Plans C, D, G, M, N). William helps you choose a plan that fits your travel habits.
How does Medicare cover skilled nursing facility care after a hospital stay in Volusia County?
Medicare covers skilled nursing facility (SNF) care after a qualifying inpatient hospital stay of at least 3 days. Days 1–20 are fully covered; days 21–100 require a daily copay ($194.50/day in 2026). Medigap plans cover this copay. Medicare Advantage plans have their own SNF cost-sharing rules. Volusia County has several Medicare-certified SNFs. William helps you understand SNF coverage before you need it.
